International Staff Week: “Artificial Intelligence: Innovation and Future”

The first edition of the International Staff Week titled Artificial Intelligence: Innovation and Future was held from May 19 to 23 at LIUC – The Business University, organized by the International Relations Office.

The initiative involved colleagues from the international relations offices of European partner universities, offering an important opportunity for training, discussion, and networking on the topic of artificial intelligence and its impact on the world of work and international cooperation.
It was a valuable moment of exchange with colleagues from both partner and non-partner European universities.

Throughout the week, participants had the opportunity to explore the main applications of AI in management through a rich program of meetings, workshops, and best practice sharing. Topics covered included:

  • Generative Artificial Intelligence and Prompt Engineering
  • The Impact of AI on International Offices
  • Digital Tools for Internationalization
  • Ethics and Responsibility in the Use of AI

This international week aligns perfectly with LIUC’s strategic goals, which focus on innovation and internationalization as key pillars for the future of the university and society.

The aim was to foster dialogue among diverse institutions, reflect on the strategic role of AI in internationalization processes, and promote new ideas and collaborations.

Rector Prof. Anna Gervasoni, in praising the initiative, added: “Internationalization and innovation have always been at the heart of LIUC’s strategy. That’s why we are particularly pleased to host an event that focuses on how technology is transforming society and the development of universities.”

Prof. Luca Mari, a faculty speaker during the week, added: “What is happening around the so-called ‘generative artificial intelligence’ is, first and foremost, a cultural revolution. Being able to share our experience and engage in dialogue with people from across Europe is therefore a valuable opportunity. As a university professor, I thank those who organized this initiative.”

“The International Week at LIUC University was amazing. The professors at LIUC were experts on the topic and taught us a lot about GenAI and how to use different tools. It will enable me to achieve better and more professional results in my work. It was very inspiring to meet colleagues from different universities and exchange ideas. Many thanks to the whole international office for organizing a wonderful, interesting and fruitful week!”

Elisabeth F. Balchen, International coordinator – Incoming/Outgoing Students, International Office, University of Agder, Norway
Participating in the Erasmus International Week at Università Carlo Cattaneo – LIUC was an enriching experience, offering valuable insights into how Artificial Intelligence is shaping innovation and the future in higher education. The lectures by LIUC faculty provided a clear overview of AI concepts, while the group workshops translated these into practical applications relevant to the work of international offices. It was particularly useful to exchange best practices with colleagues from across Europe and to explore how AI tools can improve administrative processes and student services. The week also fostered meaningful networking opportunities, which may lead to future collaborations. Overall, the experience strengthened both my understanding of AI in academia and my ability to contribute to digital innovation in international education.

Thanks to the whole team for the availability, attention, and the brilliant organization. It was a wonderful experience, my first staff week actually, and I will carry these memories with warmth and smile!

I want to thank you again for organizing such a lovely staff week. It’s been fantastic to get to know the team at LIUC and other great colleagues from abroad. We got a lot of really good insights on the functioning of IA tools by the great professors and really good ideas on how to make the most out of the chat. And the “after work” activities were great! A small city but with really nice places to which you took us!!

Giao Phan, International Mobility Coordinator, International Office / Admissions Support Team, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Business and Economics, The Netherlands
