Observatory for Planning & Control
Why the Observatory for Planning & Control was set up
In Italy the "state of the art" planning and control within firms is known only superficially. We have been made aware of this lack of knowledge during several Conventions arranged by international institutions as the European Accounting Association ( E.A.A.) or as the American Accounting Association, where significant data about our Country do not emerge while papers on other countries are plentiful. We do not know, for instance, the number and the characteristics of those firms that make use of accounting tools as the Activity Based Costing nor results carried out from experiences of those firms that, on the other hand, have implemented ABC.
For a long time, the University of Castellanza (LIUC) thought about filling this gap of knowledge. The Camillo Bussolati research and training centre has offered the opportunity to do so.
The Observatory’s aim is to fill a gap and to improve Business Administration studies in the field of Planning and Control
The Mission of the Observatory is constructive as well as challenging:
" to spread and consolidate a Planning and control culture among innovative firms"
What the Observatory of Planning & Control does
The Observatory is an initiative which firms, institutions or persons coming from a business contest can join. The common aim of such participants should be: to develop new knowledge about the applicability of planning and control tools and relative processes within organizations.
To this end we have planned some services to offer to the Observatory’s members, whose number is restricted to fifty including firms and individuals. They are selected on the basis of level of experience within the Planning & Control area. We are resolved to create a club of experts wishing to increase their professionalism in this specific matter.
The Observatory is run by a Strategic Steering Committee, consisting of four university teachers and three managers appointed by the partners’ meeting. Committee tasks are the following:
To define the annual research subject |
To suggest topics for selection at the three annual workshops |
To define which process will be object of the P & C Benchmarking Club annual meeting. |
